In cooperation with the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation, the Teachers’ Pension Plan is holding pension seminars to educate members about their pension plan. Two seminars will be offered throughout British Columbia, beginning in fall 2008. Your Pension, Your Future is aimed at new and mid-career plan members while Thinking About Retiring provides information for members within five years of retirement.
Attached to this e-mail are copies of the seminar registration and schedule forms for each seminar as well as a letter - which you will receive, with printed posters, from the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation.
The Thinking About Retiring and Your Pension, Your Future seminar posters, schedules and application forms were also posted to the Pension Seminar section of the Teachers’ Pension Plan website on August 7, 2008. A new, easy-to-use online registration system will be available for use beginning August 17, 2008.
Please direct your plan members to their pension plan website at tpp.pensionsbc.ca for more information and to register for the seminar that’s right for them.
Thank you for your assistance.

Greetings,
Starting today, you and your employees who participate in the Teachers’ Pension Plan will have access to a new, personalized purchase cost estimator.
Using a member’s personal service and salary information, the personalized purchase cost estimator provides a cost estimate for most purchase requests. It also allows members and employers to select prospective retirement and termination dates and see how the purchase may impact the member’s lifetime pension, bridge benefit, and any possible reductions. In short, it offers more personalized results and greater flexibility, than the current generic cost estimator.
The new tool is also more intuitive and easier to use. It has the same look and feel as the personalized pension estimator, and presents information in a similar manner to the pension estimator and the Member’s Benefit Statement.
The new personalized purchase cost estimator is available to employers through the secure Employer Login section of the Teachers’ Pension Plan website, and to plan members through the My Account section. If your plan members are not currently registered for My Account, they will find their username and password on their current Member’s Benefit Statement.
The current generic purchase cost estimator is still available in the public portion of the web site.
Sincerely,
Judy Payne, Director
Client Services Division
BC Pension Corporation
